What a party!

[Echoes Of The Sixties]

To celebrate publication of their first book
Echoes of the Sixties,
co-authors Marti Smiley Childs and Jeff March
staged a book-signing party in conjunction with Tower Books
at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sacramento on Nov. 18, 1999.

In attendance were more than 300 people, including guests of honor Gordon Waller (of the "British invasion" duo Peter & Gordon), Mike Pinder (of the Moody Blues), Barry "the Fish" Melton (of Country Joe & the Fish) and Ron Meagher (of the Beau Brummels). He was among those applauding Beau Brummels vocalist Sal Valentino, who along with his backup band the Dukes provided an hour-long set of hits by the Beau Brummels and other 1960s favorites. Prize-winning playwright and former "Top 40" disc jockey Dave Williams—who at the time of the event was morning news anchor for KFBK Sacramento (and now is the morning news co-anchor at KFWB radio in Los Angeles)—served as master of ceremonies for the evening.
We're pleased to share with you some photographs taken during the celebration at the Hard Rock.
